2023, Future Flow Fellowship (Edinburgh Printmakers, NID Ahmedabad, British Council, Flow India)
From Where I Stand was the conclusion of Future Flow, a year-long fellowship programme conducted by Edinburgh Printmakers and Flow India, as a part of the British Council’s Season of Culture. An exhibition of printmaking works by seven artists with connections to India and the UK, From Where I Stand was collectively curated and produced by a team of twenty young curators from India and Scotland. Aside from being involved in the conceptualisation and curation, my role involved the development of a visual identity that could be expressed through spatial interventions, print design, and web design.
The typographically-led identity was centred around the words ‘FROM WHERE I STAND’ anchored to four corners, symbolising the multiplicity of the vantage points that informed the perspectives of the curators and artists. Set in Authentic Sans, and complemented by EB Garamond, the typographic identity sought to be minimal, unobtrusive, yet with the faintest hint of visual character. Applications across social media, web and print were kept largely monochromatic, in black and white, to let the focus remain on the artworks being exhibited.
